First reading (Revelation 7, 2-4. 9-14) I, John, saw another angel rising from the sunrise, having the seal of the Living God. He shouted with a loud voice to the four angels who were allowed to harm the land and the sea: "Do not harm the land, nor the sea, nor the trees, until we seal the foreheads of the servants of our God!" And I heard the number of those who were marked: a hundred and forty-four thousand who were marked from all the children of Israel relatives. Then I saw: behold, a great multitude, which no one could number, from all kindreds, tribes, nations, and languages. All stood before the throne and the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. They shouted with a loud voice: "Glory for salvation to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb!" All the angels standing around the throne, the elders and the four living creatures fell down before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God, singing: "Amen!" Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanks, and honor, and power, and strength to our God forever and ever! Amen!” Then one of the elders began to speak to me: “Who are these and where did they come from who are clothed in white robes?” I answered him: “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “They have come out of great sorrow. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Responsorial Psalm (Ps 23, 1-6) P. These people long for your face, Lord. The earth of the Lord - and everything on the earth, the whole world and everything that lives in it. After all, he built it above the seas, created a fortress above the rivers. - P. Who will enter the house of the Lord? Who dares to stay in his temple? A man whose hands are innocent, who has a pure conscience. - P. The Lord will bless such a person, God the Savior will reward him. Such people are his true fans, they long for the Lord's face. - P. Second reading (1 Jn 3, 1-3) Beloved! See what love the Father has bestowed on us: we are called children of God - and we are! The world does not know us because it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, but it has not yet been revealed what we will be. We know that when he appears we will be like him because we will see him as he is. Anyone who has this hope in him sanctifies himself, because he is also pure. Afterword before the gospel (Mt 11, 28) P. Alleluia. - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened: I will give you life, says the Lord. - Mr. Alleluia. Gospel (Mt 5, 1-12a) Seeing the crowds, Jesus climbed the mountain and sat down. The students approached him. After speaking, Jesus taught: "Blessed are the poor in spirit: theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Blessed are they that mourn: they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: they shall be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they despise you and persecute you and falsely slander you in every way because of me. Be glad and rejoice, for you have a rich reward in heaven."
