Antonín Slováček, who has been known since his student years and performs under his nickname Felix, is one of the most famous saxophonists in our country. He started with the clarinet and his mother wanted him to be a pianist, but he didn't enjoy it. After studying at the conservatory, he joined the then-famous Karel Vlach Orchestra and then for some time anchored in Karel Gott's accompanying group, i.e. the Ladislav Štaidl Orchestra. Meanwhile, he also played with the Jazz Sanatorium group, which he founded together with Jan Hammer Jr. In the 1980s, he took over the former Czech Radio Dance Orchestra (TOČR), which continues under the name Felix Slováček Orchestra to this day. And while doing all this, he also devotes himself to jazz, classics and occasionally Moravian folklore. All this was discussed in the next On Air. What enchanted him with the sound of the saxophone? Which of the many saxophone models do you like best? And how does he remember the era when big bands ruled the radio airwaves? Watch the full interview.
