Our first heroes are Lana and her husband Borya from Ukraine. Both came here for the first time as teenagers, as their parents lived here. Borya is from Lviv, Lana is from Chernivtsi. Borya moved to Athens 13 years ago, when he was 15 years old. He came on a tourist visa, but ended up staying. He talked about the bureaucratic difficulties he encountered, how things are with studying and working in Greece, whether it is difficult to start a business here and what the cost of living is in Greece. His wife Lana emigrated 4 years ago and received a residence permit in Greece. Among the main difficulties that Lana had to face were the difficulties in learning the Greek language, however, many people here know English. According to Borya, the average salary in Greece is 800-1000 euros, the minimum is 683 euros. As for business, it is quite easy to open it here - you only need a standard set of documents to register a company. ▶ Real estate, medicine, employment in Athens The next heroine is Svetlana. She immigrated to Greece 16 years ago to relax and earn some extra money, but ended up staying for good. Svetlana talked about how much an apartment in Athens costs and the rent, what are the specifics of paying for utilities, how to find a job in Greece, how the crisis affected this and what immigrants mainly do. She also noted that the Greek way of life is subject to the principle of siga-siga (σιγά-σιγά), which translates as "tomorrow-the day after tomorrow". ▶ Fines in Greece Greece has quite strict rules regarding fines for various violations.
