I will say right away that I do not want to motivate you to immigrate to Greece, I just want to show the city through the eyes of people who decided to move and now live in Athens. We will visit our heroes, go with them to the market, find out how they work here, what they encounter and how everyday life is organized. Our first heroes are Lana and her husband Borya from Ukraine. Both came here for the first time as teenagers, as their parents lived here. Borya is from Lviv, Lana is from Chernivtsi. Borya moved to Athens 13 years ago, when he was 15 years old. He came on a tourist visa, but ended up staying. He talked about the bureaucratic difficulties he encountered, how things are with studying and working in Greece, whether it is difficult to start a business here and what the cost of living is in Greece. His wife Lana emigrated 4 years ago and received a residence permit in Greece. Among the main difficulties that Lana had to face were the difficulties in learning the Greek language, however, many people here know English. The guys talked about how they decided to go to Greece, the pros and cons of moving, how things are with work, what the Ukrainian diaspora is like and how it spends its leisure time, how Greeks celebrate weddings and how everyday life is organized in Athens. Borya now heads the technical department at a company that produces household chemicals. From his own experience, he spoke about the level of earnings of Greeks. According to Borya, the average salary in Greece is 800-1000 euros, the minimum is 683 euros. As for business, it is quite easy to open it here - you only need a standard set of documents to register a company. ▶ Real estate, medicine, employment in Athens The next heroine is Svetlana. She immigrated to Greece 16 years ago to relax and earn some extra money, but ended up staying for good. Svetlana talked about how much an apartment in Athens costs and the rent, what are the specifics of paying for utilities, how to find a job in Greece, how the crisis affected this and what immigrants mainly do. She also noted that the Greek way of life is subject to the principle of siga-siga (σιγά-σιγά), which translates as "tomorrow-the day after tomorrow". ▶ Fines in Greece Greece has quite strict rules regarding fines for various violations. It is unlikely that you will be stopped on the road for no reason, but if you are stopped, then there is a reason for it. For example, the fine for driving without a seat belt in Athens is 350 euros, for driving through a red light - 700-800 euros, and for expired insurance the fine is about 400 euros. But the parking fee in the center is only 5 euros per day. ▶ Greek cuisine Among the main dishes of Greek cuisine, our heroes noted the Greek salad, which, in fact, the Greeks call village salad. Together with Borya, we went to the market to stock up on groceries. Their budget for groceries is about 80-100 euros per week. The cost of fruits and vegetables is as follows: tomatoes - €0.5, cabbage - €0.49, carrots - €0.79, lemons and bananas - €0.89, pomegranate - €1.99. In addition, the Athens guide Zhanna will tell you how to get to know Athens, where to go and how much time you need to feel the city like a local. In general, what to tell, start watching and learn all the most interesting things about what immigration and life abroad are. #Athens #Greece #Expats ✔ I recommend reading on the TripMyDream blog: Stopover: how to visit Istanbul for free - http://bit.ly/2DHJZXm Athens holidays: tips for travelers - http://bit.ly/2LGHmKG Real Greece from Thessaloniki to Athens - http://bit.ly/2snpTOj ❤ Links to the heroes: Lana Rizaeva - / lanarizaeva Boris Makar - / boris.makar.3 Zhanna Kutepova - / joannagreece Svetlana Gedvilo - https://vkfaces.com/vk/user/sgedvilo TRIPMYDREAM ❤ TripMyDream Telegram channel: https://teleg.one/tripmydream ❤ TripMyDream on Facebook: / tripmydreamcom ❤ TripMyDream Instagram: / tripmydream I AM SOCIAL NETWORKS: ❤ Telegram channel – @andrey_burenok (https://teleg.one/andrey_burenok) ❤ I'm on Facebook – / burenok.andrey ❤ I'm on Instagram – / andrey_burenok Video shot on Panasonic Lumix GH5.
