Specialists from the UNAM Faculty of Medicine pointed out that thyroid problems affect 3 out of every thousand women over 50 years of age. Those between 40 and 50 years of age are considered a risk group. The probability of suffering from this type of condition increases with age, reaching 14 out of every thousand women aged 75 to 80, and 10% of cases have been recorded in the general population over 60 years of age.
