We correct rising damp by injecting a damp barrier into a wall and applying the appropriate mortars inside and outside to prevent it from reappearing. http://www.bricocrack.tv. Construction Tutorial Rising damp Rising damp injection Waterproofing mortar Breathable plastering mortar. All the products for repairing and waterproofing rising damp that we use in the video are from @SikaESP. In this tutorial we are going to see how to resolve rising damp, better known as capillary damp. A very complex issue that requires a very technical solution. Our aim is for you to see how it is done professionally, what products are used and, above all, for you to understand why we have to provide a comprehensive solution so that the damp does not reappear. To make it easier to understand the procedure, we have counted on the expert hands of one of Sika's specialist applicators, Toni Jurado, and the support of its Technical Department. Of course, the first thing is to diagnose the origin of the damp. In the case of rising damp, it is easy. It rises up the wall, dries, reappears, etc. And our aim is not only to stop the damp from rising up the wall that is connected to the ground, but we are going to work so that this damp stops coming out through the interior wall and comes out through the façade without causing efflorescence. To cover all the possibilities, we have prepared a model that represents the wall both on the outside, where we have plastered it, and on the inside. And we have also created an air chamber so that you can see how it works when the wall has one. The ideal and easiest way is to be able to do the complete repair on the outside of the house. We remove the plaster from the façade until we reach the first row of bricks where we are going to apply the SikaMur InjectoCream 100. And we do it in the mortar joint between the bricks, which is the material through which the product spreads little by little to create the anti-humidity barrier that prevents water from rising up the wall. We make the holes every 12 cm at most, with a drill bit the thickness of the wall minus 10 mm. In our case, we can make them coincide with the T-joints of the bricks, which is ideal. We clean the holes well of dust and inject the SikaMur InjectoCream 100. We use a grouting gun with a cartridge inside or a “sausage” of product. If we cannot do this work on the outside, we do it on the inside in exactly the same way. It is very important that you remove the plaster from that area of the wall in order to work on clean bricks. If you have an air chamber, you will have to do one or two tests to find out the configuration of the bricks because, if you do not inject the mortar joint correctly, the application will be worthless. Take the measurements of the bricks through the tests and transfer them with a marking machine and a measuring tape to the partition on which you are going to work. Once the product has been injected, we will let it act for a few days so that the upper part of the wall dries. With the wall dry, on the outside, we will apply SikaMur, a plastering mortar for the elimination of humidity by capillary ascension. This macroporous mortar will trap the salts of the water between its pores, preventing the appearance of efflorescence. We apply it with the trowel in two layers and, in the second, we pass a wooden or plastic float. We apply it in two layers, the first of 2 mm and the second of 2 cm minimum. If you want to paint afterwards, you will have to do it with a breathable paint. Inside the house, we apply a waterproof mortar with a brush, SikaTop 209 ES. The first layer in one direction and the second in the opposite direction. If you want to paint or tile afterwards, add a primer. We hope you find it useful whether you are going to do it yourself or to know what you can ask a professional for. Tell us about it down here in the comments.
