III Congress Dialogue on the Economy, Warsaw 2024 - Together we shape the Europe of tomorrow! Debate entitled: Competitiveness in the public procurement market During the panel devoted to public procurement, we discussed the most important challenges currently facing the procurement market. Adjusting wages to the changing conditions of performing orders is still a major challenge, primarily due to the still dynamically changing costs of performing some orders, and especially labor costs. Significant changes in the minimum wage affect the entire pay scale, which the legislator still does not notice. The increase in the costs of performing orders and the growing regulatory requirements, mainly derived from EU law, put our domestic contractors at a disadvantage in the clash with rivals from outside the EU. The deteriorating competitiveness of our contractors as a result of the legislator's actions should be compensated by measures equalizing the opportunities in relation to contractors from third countries. The excessive opening of our market is particularly worrying, when our contractors cannot count on equally friendly treatment in third countries.
