Elon Musk and Greta Thunberg are just the most recent names associated with Asperger's syndrome, a syndrome that affects many famous people including the writer Susanna Tamaro, the actress Daryl Hanna and even some geniuses of the past such as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Steve Jobs. We have recently learned more about this condition thanks to Christian Passeri, 20 years old, from Bosconero in the province of Turin, who began his adventure in the most popular cooking show in Italy MasterChef and - episode after episode - is doing it by showing everyone how the determination to overcome difficulties is even stronger than the typical characteristics of those who live with Asperger's. Today we celebrate World Asperger's Syndrome Day, dedicated to understanding children and adults who live with this neurodiversity that makes them extraordinarily intelligent, loyal and direct, but which does not allow them to be in tune with others. We talk about it with Professor Paola Venuti, director of the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Trento and head of the Laboratory of Observation, Diagnosis and Training. #medicine #health #asperger #autism #neurodiversity #aspie #aspergersyndrome #psychology
