The event will also feature a pre-event mini-course entitled “Principles and applications of viral diagnosis,” which will be held on the afternoon of the 27th by Professor José Valter Joaquim Silva Júnior, from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in Rio Grande do Sul. The event is promoted by the UFPE Postgraduate Program in Tropical Medicine, which was created in 1973 and initially offered a master’s degree for physicians. In 2000, it also began offering a doctorate degree, expanding its scope to include other professionals who research and work with infectious diseases, such as pharmacists, biochemists, biologists, and biomedical scientists.
