Which brand makes the best cars in the world? Be careful! I'm not talking about the most luxurious, the most powerful, or even the most expensive. I'm talking about the best quality cars. I've tried to ask this question and the brand that I've been answered the most times is Lexus. And the question is, are they really the best? #cars #lexus Become a member of this channel to enjoy benefits: / airtight garage When I was a child and a teenager in the 60s and 70s, my father told me that the best cars in the world were Rolls Royces. When I was a few years old and got into this business, Mercedes-Benz was undoubtedly the benchmark brand, as we tell in the video titled "When Mercedes were authentic Mercedes"... in 1989 everything changed. Eiji Toyoda, nephew of the founder of Toyota, wanted to create a premium brand for Toyota, as Honda had tried, with varying success, when creating Acura and Nissan when creating Infiniti. He aspired to create a brand with its own personality and, above all, with the best level of quality in the world. Yes, because he thought big: He didn’t want to make cars that were among the best, he wanted to make “the best”, the cars with the best quality in the world. And in the mid-80s the first question that arose in the face of this challenge was: Is Toyota capable of making the best cars in the world? Can we do it? And he asked this question to no less than 1,400 engineers and 2,300 technicians of the brand… and many, not all, said yes, yes we can! And the F1 project was born… “Flagship One”, the seed of Lexus. In the early 80s, the United States of America was the main customer of the Japanese car brands. And the American motor industry was still the leader in terms of production volume. It is always said, above all it was said, that the Japanese were the best at copying and making the copy surpass the original. So, clever Eiji Toyoda sent engineer Taiichi Ohno to the USA, simply to spy and copy. Shortly after arriving, this man came to a huge supermarket and was amazed by how they work without stock… just the opposite of what car manufacturers did. The system called TPS or “Toyota Production System” was exported to many brands. In some countries it is called “Lean Production System” and I have read and heard that it can be called “Just-In-Time” which is a mistake, because “Just-In-Time” is part of this system, but not “the whole”… Along with TPS for his new brand, Eiji Toyoda implemented the system, or rather work philosophy, called “Jidoka”, which consists of detecting problems and correcting errors in record time. And he also implemented the “Heijunka” philosophy, which basically consists of not overloading the workers… And finally, the Kaizen philosophy, which was not invented by Eiji or Toyota, is thousands of years old and can be summed up in one sentence: “Today better than yesterday, tomorrow better than today!” In short, it is always possible to do things better. You could say that the independent brand LEXUS was born in 1989, which is when the first Lexus, the LS400, was presented at the Detroit Motor Show and its cars began to be sold in the USA. As I said before, in the development of this brand and these models, the main objective was the United States of America, to the point that its name comes from there, since LEXUS is the acronym for “Luxury EXport United Estates”. And finally the LEXUS LS400 arrived in Spain! And they let us try it out… the advantages of being the boss, from the beginning I said that I was going to try that car. I remember that when the editor who brought it arrived I asked him: “What did you think?” And the guy answered: “Like a Mercedes, but ugly.” It is true that the LS400 was not the most beautiful car in the world, although it was not ugly. But the fact that he told me that it was like a Mercedes… seemed like a good start. I got into the car and had three “impressive” first impressions: The first, seeing the interior and getting into the car, because it seemed to me to be of a quality I had never seen before. The second, closing the door… I had never heard that sound, not in a Mercedes or a Jaguar or a BMW… never. It was something special and seductive. Later I found out that one of the reasons why the “Takumi Masters” push cars “backwards” is because of the sound of the doors closing. The third impression, when I started the 4.0-liter, 32-valve, 250-hp V8 engine… I had to look at the tachometer to check that it was running. I started it and I won't make it long: I thought it was the best car I had ever tried in terms of quality. So much so that a friend asked me what the best car on the market was... I told him this one and... the time has come to answer the initial question: Are LEXUS cars the best cars in the world? The answer is, quite simply... YES!
