The politicians of the European Union, as they say, have “screwed up”. After imposing the electric car by means of legislation, after forcing the European motor industry to bet everything on electric cars, after causing a rise in the price of all cars, electric and conventional… now, everything is collapsing: Losses of money, factory closures, invasion of Chinese cars… we told you! #cars #electriccars Become a member of this channel to enjoy benefits: / hermetic garage At this point it seems obvious that the politicians who imposed this strategy neither knew about cars nor consulted experts nor spoke to the industry nor did they do the necessary prior studies to measure the consequences of such nonsense. The consequences? We are going to analyse them, in general and by brand, but, to get you started, I will give you a result: Between 54 and 67 percent, depending on the source, of electric car buyers regret it and their next car, despite all the limitations on thermal cars and the support for electric cars, will be a thermal engine, with or without hybridisation… Journalists and artists always say that “the public is sovereign”… but it seems that politicians are not… what a shame! There are many bad decisions, but let’s go with the ones that are most obvious to me. For example: VW decided that hybrids were a thing of the past and decided to go directly from thermal engines to electric ones… what a mistake!… with all due respect… Hybrids are a third of the cars sold in the European Union while electric cars do not reach 13 percent. That is, 1 in 3 is a hybrid and approximately 1 in 10 is electric… if you have decided to eliminate hybrids… you are doing badly. And Audi announces, between the lines it seems, with some surprise, that electric cars are not selling. And they are going to close the factory dedicated exclusively to manufacturing electric cars and that they announced with great fanfare not long ago… We continue with the group, but now it touches us more closely. No, we are not going to talk about the closure of Seat, but about the brilliant idea of Mr. Griffiths, another genius of the group. This gentleman had a “brilliant” idea, with quotation marks, and decided that the Tavascan should be manufactured in China… brilliant, a car with the image advantages of a European car and the price advantages of a Chinese car. Now the European Union, to protect itself from the invasion of Chinese cars, proposes an increase in tariffs on cars “Made in China” … like the Tavascan. And this gentleman wants tariffs to be imposed not on cars “Made in China” but on cars of Chinese brands. If anyone still thinks it's okay, I'll remind you that Cupra is a German brand, in other words, from the EU, which has received substantial public aid to keep the workforce in Europe... and they are going to manufacture in China! Since we're talking about public aid, European car brands are always asking for purchase aid... because they know that it's the only thing that has boosted sales. In fact, when these aids have been removed in countries like Germany, sales have plummeted... and they have had to recover them a year later. It's clear that people only want electric cars if you put money in to lower the price. We've given VAG a hard time, but there's something for everyone. Let's talk about Stellantis, a company that was said to be the most promising in the motor industry and that is going through difficult times... Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, also "blames" ... more quotes, Rodrigo! Consumers and says: "If consumers don't buy more electric cars, we will suspend the planned investments." The decision they made was to buy 21 percent of Leapmotor International, a Chinese company that is dedicated, among other things, to manufacturing batteries… 1.5 billion euros for nothing. Money that will allow them to create new jobs… basically, in China. I think Renault is showing more “waist” and more imagination than others. I'll give you an example: It has reached an agreement with the Chinese company Geely that in my opinion is a success. Meanwhile, Renault did bet on hybrids, unlike others, and offers what, for me, along with Mercedes and Toyota, are the best hybrids on the market. And mind you! They are not my clients nor do they pay me a euro. But I am independent to say what I think of the brands, whether it is bad or good. Toyota has announced that it is reducing its forecasts for manufacturing electric cars by a third by 2026… we are talking about 300,000 fewer electric cars. Mercedes-Benz has been smarter and has already made it clear long ago that the idea of 100% electric for its range by 2030 is far away. When will our legislators come forward? Because it is clear: They have legislated rules that are impossible to comply with but that have been a real torpedo to the waterline of the European motor industry.
