Hey, in this episode of the Post-War series I refer to the world's most recent history. I believe that the circumstances of the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001 are widely known. Meanwhile, there have been few materials and programs on the Internet about the first terrorist attack on the famous twin towers. I decided to change that. In February 1993, a group of terrorists detonated a powerful bomb in the basement of the WTC. The plan was simple: the explosion was to topple one tower onto the other, leading to a huge tragedy. Although this did not happen, hundreds of people were injured anyway. There were also several victims. To this day, it is not known who ordered that attack. There were speculations that Saddam Hussein could have sent the attackers. According to experts from the FBI, it is more likely that the attacks were carried out in cooperation with Islamic militants. The attackers sent their demands to the American media just a dozen or so hours after the attack. They threatened that if the Americans did not stop supporting Israel in its fight against the Pakistanis, they would carry out another terrorist attack as a result of which the famous skyscrapers would cease to exist.
