The Padișului area represents a special mountain area, it is one of the most attractive mountain sights in the country because it has special karst phenomena in its composition. This area consists of the Cetătilor Ponorului Basin in the south and the Cheilor Someșului Cald – Vărășoaia area in the northern part. During the three days of camping in Poiana Glăvoi, the starting point for many of the attractions, we visited something unique, a real geological spectacle in the true sense of the word because we found specific surface formations of significant value. The Fortresses of Ponor is the largest karst phenomenon in South-Eastern Europe. Here you can enjoy a sweeping landscape and a fascinating underground world. Poiana Ponor is a large closed karst depression, a gorgeous setting and is close to Glavoi Glade, the only place where you can camp. Focul Viu Glacier is the third largest in the country, the second (Avenul Borțig) can also be visited in this area. Pietrele Galbenei is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Apuseni Mountains and one of the steepest slopes of the Bihor Mountains. The Radesa fortresses are located in the northern part of the Padiș plateau, upstream of the Someșului Cald Gorge. The springs of Someșului Cald are also nearby. Again, here we had an underground passage, along the Rădeasa river, and we enjoyed the grandeur of this cave. The other objectives such as Cheile Galbenei, Lumea Pierdută, Groapa de la Barsa, Avenul Borțig, Moțului Church, Pietrele Boghii, Culmea Cârligatele as well as other points of attraction will be addressed on a later occasion.
