Hungary was a country of waters. Natural forces clashing at the foot of the Carpathians and time itself have shaped its hydrography. The living world that has developed here fights against the elements and human-caused changes every day. Where the rivers made their way wildly, streams rushed into the fairy-tale forests, Hévíz springs and extensive marshlands dotted the environment. Our country's former fauna was more diverse than anywhere else in Europe. From Kis-Balaton to the streams-woven forests of the Aggtelek National Park to the underwater jungle of Lake Hévíz, many domestic landscapes show their previously unknown faces in the film. In addition to spotted salamanders that look like tiny dragons, golden jackals also known as reed wolves, otters active at night, and "walking" catfish, we can also get a glimpse into the lives of many other species. It also sheds light on the changes that the animals living here have to face in order to survive, how invasive species pose a threat to native wildlife, and what the Carpathian Basin might have looked like millions of years ago. This is the story of Hungary's wild waters... Wild Water: Aqua Hungarica was released in cinemas nationwide in 2021 and has great success behind it. Among other things, it won the István Fekete award of the Gödöllő Nature Film Festival and the award for the best documentary film of the László Kovács and Zsigmond Vilmos Operator Competition. It was referred to in the press as one of the most spectacular nature films of the year and has been seen by more than half a million people since its premiere. Now the first chapter of the Wild Water trilogy returns in a brand new guise, in 4K quality.
