Studies indicate that the Chesapeake Bay was an aquatic environment at the time of the impact, which may have minimized the global atmospheric effects. In contrast, at Popigai, the impact in an area rich in graphite may have produced large quantities of industrial diamonds, but again, there is no evidence of a significant global impact.
