The V 180 series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn - from 1970 series 118, from 1992 series 228 - was the largest diesel locomotive built in the GDR. It was intended to replace steam traction on a large scale. The first ones rolled over DR tracks in the early 1960s. For a long time, the beautifully designed machines were an important part of the Reichsbahn's vehicle fleet. In 1995 - already during the DB AG era - the last of them were put on the siding. We observed the large diesel locomotives in their last months of operation on the Rennsteig. Enjoy watching. More about the V180 here: https://www.ekshop.de/dvd-cd/dvd/beru...
