HODIE CHRISTUS NATUS EST: the chime of the Broekhoven church in Tilburg! -- With this video I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! -- 0:14 clock 3 2:45 clock 2 5:18 clock 1 8:57 full chime The church: A church was built for the Broekhoven district in 1913 based on a design by Jan van der Valk. The church is made of concrete on the inside, which was very modern for that time. The style is attributed to both neo-Byzantineism and expressionism. In 1987 the interior was changed considerably. An inner wall was built, making the church space smaller. The side chapels were also given a more individual role. The chime: The chime was cast in three different years by Petit & Fritsen. The small bell was named after the pastor, the middle one after the bishop. Before the war there was one 105 kg bell, it is not known whether there were more bells. Today, there is still an angelus bell with about the same weight. Unfortunately, the visit to the roof turret could not be done because there was insufficient light. Fortunately, maintenance is carried out here every year -- not every sexton can say that! That is why everything has actually remained in a fairly good condition. clock 1: Henricus Gieting: Petit & Fritsen, 1963 ø 1232 mm e' petit & fritsen, aarle-rixtel, holland, 3850 + // 1913-1963 / I JUBILEE HIGHLY FROM THE TOWER / AT THE GOLDEN PARISH CELEBRATION / HENRICUS' NAME IS CHOSEN FOR ME / PASTOR MERTENS I HONOR MOSTLY // clock 2: Wilhelmus Gieting: Petit & Fritsen, 1955 ø 1018 mm g' AD 1955 // SHEEP GAVE ME AT THE SILVER CELEBRATION / THE SHEPHERD IN HONOR BUT MOST OF ALL GOD / THE NAME WILHELMUS WAS GIVEN TO ME / I CALL BROEKHOVEN TO SPIRITUAL LIFE / MAY 30, 1954 // PETIT ET FRITSEN ME FUDERUNT clock 3: Petrus Casting: Petit & Fritsen, 1958 ø 916 mm a' WITH A DECK OF CARDS I CAME TO LIFE / PETRUS' NAME WAS GIVEN TO ME / PASTOR VAN OORSCHOT IN HONOUR / OUR SHEPHERD OF yore TILBURG, BROEKHOVEN, 1 JULY 1958 // PETIT ET FRITSEN ME FUDERUNT Recording: Saturday 5 December 2015, approx. 16:10 to 16:50. My great thanks go to Erik Daniëls who came with me especially so that I could turn on the bells and record the bells in the tower! I would also like to thank Jeroen and John from the Brabants Dagblad for coming along and interviewing me! Here is the article: http://www.bd.nl/regio/tilburg-eo/ti...
