Can an electric car be fun to drive on the track? To find out, we decided to take the most interesting electric car of our time, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, and compare it on the Silverstone track with a BMW M2 Competition! First, let's compare these cars. Let's start with the Hyundai, it has two electric motors that together produce 650 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the two motors, it has all-wheel drive and weighs 2,235 kg. The new IONIQ 5 N costs around 65,000 pounds. Moving on to the BMW, it has the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine as the latest M3, but power is slightly down, producing 460 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels only, and the weight is 1,725 kg. If you want to buy a new one, it will set you back around £65,000. So do you think an EV sceptic would find any benefit in taking the IONIQ out on the road? You'll have to stick with Matt and Sam to find out.
