▽▽ Expand description ▽▽ The Road of the 52 Galleries was built in 1917, between February and December, to serve the Pasubio front. It took about 600 soldiers who built this mule track in 11 months to reach the front without being seen by the enemy. This path, called the “Road of the 52 Galleries”, is 6,300 meters long, of which 2,300 are in tunnels; the rest are dug into the rock halfway up the hill. The route begins in Bocchetta di Campiglia at an altitude of 1,216 meters and ends at 1,928 meters, reaching an altitude of about 2,000 meters after tunnel no. 48. The longest tunnel is the nineteenth which, like the twentieth, wraps around itself several times forming an ascending spiral in the rock. At the beginning of the trail there is a large paid parking lot (6 euros per day) and a bar whose opening times I do not know. The route ends at the Papa Refuge where you can decide to go back via the Strada degli Scarubbi in order to complete a circular tour. The complete tour is about 15/16 km long.
