In this week's FryslânDOK, director Tom Tieman gives a voice to old, dilapidated farm cathedrals. Although residents work hard to maintain them, truly renovating them properly is difficult. There are still many historic farms in the north of the Netherlands. Around 1880, great prosperity arose in the agricultural sector and to display this, wealthy gentlemen farmers built the most beautiful farms. Unfortunately, many of these farms are now slowly turning into ruins. Tom Tieman, director of 'Huilende Bruiden', became fascinated by the farm cathedrals.
