The Battle of Thuong Duc was a battle in the Vietnam War in 1974 between the Liberation Army and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam in Thuong Duc district, Quang Nam province, Republic of Vietnam, (this area is Dai Loc district, Quang Da province according to the division of the Liberation Army, now the western region of Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province). Speaking of this stronghold, President Nguyen Van Thieu of the Republic of Vietnam named it "The Pearl Eye of the Dragon's Head" to emphasize its importance. Thanks to this "pearl eye", the Army of the Republic of Vietnam could easily observe and destroy the advance of the Liberation Army from North to South along the Ho Chi Minh trail.
