In 2005, farmer Renné Senna won around R$52 million in the Mega-Sena lottery. What seemed like just another story about a lucky winner ended up becoming one of the top stories on the police pages. On January 7, 2007, while he was in a bar in Lavras, in the interior of Rio Bonito-RJ, a few kilometers from his farm, Renné was murdered with four gunshots. His widow, former hairdresser Adriana Almeida, was eventually named as the mastermind behind the crime. The case has already had two trials. In the first, Adriana was acquitted. In the second, in December 2016, she was convicted, but is now free due to an appeal filed by her defense. Among Renné Sena's assets is the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Farm, which has always been one of the most coveted properties in Rio Bonito. Because it was purchased by Renné, the property ended up being called the “Mega-Sena Farm”. Ten years after the murder, on January 10, 2017, our reporters visited the “Fazenda Mega-Sena” and found a scene of destruction. The property is destroyed, vandalized, the actions of looters are visible and the place is overgrown with weeds. Meanwhile, Renné’s daughter and his widow are fighting in court to find out who will get the millionaire’s inheritance. NOTE: After being considered a fugitive, Adriana Almeida ended up being arrested last Wednesday (06/20/2018). She is sentenced to 20 years in prison.
