Mount Tambora Expedition Via Piong Route Mount Tambora (or Tomboro) is an active cone volcano located on Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This mountain is located in two districts, namely Dompu Regency which covers the western and southern slopes and Bima Regency which covers the eastern and northern slopes. Mount Tambora is one of the largest single mountains (separate from the mountains) in Indonesia, which is typical of Mount Slamet in Central Java. This mountain was formed due to an active subduction zone below it. In the past, the height of Mount Tambora reached around 4,300 m2 which made this mountain one of the highest peaks in Indonesia in the past. climbing via the Piong route, starting from the climbing gate that enters the Piong savanna area on the side of Jalan Raya Labuhan Kananga. Well, what is typical of this route is the presence of two cinder cones: Dongo Tabe Na'e (and Dongo Tabe To'i ter which are side by side in the Piong savanna area.
