From August 7th to 8th, 1971, the Cappel Rifle Club, founded in 1837 (Cappel is a district of Lippstadt), celebrated its annual rifle festival. The 20-minute film by Eugen Teigeler begins with footage of the wreath-making for the colonel and club chairman Franz Teigeler at the Hermann Loddenkemper family's in neighboring Stutendorf. On the morning of August 6th, 1971, the neighbors hung a German flag on the colonel's farm. In the afternoon, the entire rifle procession marched from Cappel to the farm of Colonel Franz Teigeler in the Liesborn farming community of Suderlage. Here, Deputy Colonel Anton Röwekamp gave a speech. After this serenade, the rifle procession marched to the Beckhoff-Heitkamp farm, also located in the Liesborn farming community of Suderlage on the Glenne. Here, the gold queen Mathilde Beckhoff received a serenade. On the way back to Cappel, the Ense family is also serenaded. The shooting festival Sunday, August 8, 1971, begins with the march of the marksmen to the Böbbinghof, where the reigning royal couple Bernhard and Marlies Hollenhorst-Böbbing are picked up. This is followed by the honoring of the fallen at the memorial in Cappeler Stiftsallee and a ceremony on the shooting range. Here, the gold queen Mathilde Beckhoff is once again honored with a pin by Colonel Franz Teigeler. This is followed by a march past, parade march and finally the march to the festival tent. The bird shooting takes place on Monday, August 9, 1971 on the Lichtenplatz in Cappel. Here Norbert Müller wins the title of king for the 1971/1972 shooting year. In the afternoon he is picked up from the residence in Martinswinkel with his wife and queen. The new royal couple Norbert and Ute Müller are then crowned on the festival grounds. Note: The 50-year-old marching music that accompanied the film has been deliberately retained for this release. Please excuse the resulting poor sound quality.
