[ POL-KA: (KA) Karlsruhe - After a truck rear-end collision - A5 motorway completely closed 16.09.2015 - 04:07 Karlsruhe (ots) - Three trucks were driving on the right lane of the A5 from Bruchsal towards Karlsruhe on Tuesday evening at around 7.40 p.m. Due to the permanent construction site near Karlsruhe, there was a traffic jam and slow traffic. The truck driver in front had to stop due to traffic. The truck driver behind braked in time and also stopped. A truck driver behind him noticed the stationary vehicles too late because he was not adjusting his speed. He tried to swerve to the left, but hit the semi-trailer in front of him with the right front of the tractor unit. The impact pushed the two trucks in front of him together. The cab of the truck that caused the accident was torn off and thrown into the left lane. The rest of the tractor came to a stop in the middle lane. The truck driver suffered moderate injuries. The entire southbound lane had to be closed until the badly damaged trucks with leaking operating fluids could be recovered. The following traffic was diverted at the Bruchsal junction.
