Seborga is a small municipality in the province of Imperia, 20 kilometers from the border with France, located 517 meters above sea level and has approximately 320 inhabitants. Originally, it was a village belonging to the counts of Ventimiglia. In 954, Count Guido ceded this part of the county to the Benedictine monks of Lerino and from this date the fiefdom of Seborga can therefore be traced back to its origins. In the second half of the 12th century, the municipality of Genoa claimed that Seborga should become part of its territory. It then began a lawsuit with the abbot of Lerino and on July 13, 1173, the sentence was issued that confirmed the legacy of 954. http://www.borghiditalia.tv2000.it
