Zero waste in the bathroom? Is that possible? What alternatives are there to avoid waste in the bathroom? Ariane Alter does the reality check for PULS Reportage. Together with sustainability expert Svenja from GLOWnatur, she tests zero waste in the bathroom. Zero waste in the bathroom: cotton pads, cotton buds, disposable razors and countless plastic tubes - a lot of waste accumulates in the bathroom. Not to mention toilet paper. Are there alternatives? Is it possible to live a zero waste lifestyle in the bathroom? Ariane Alter shows you this in this PULS report. Because for her, waste in the bathroom is completely normal. Unlike Svenja! Svenja from GLOWnatur lives a minimal bathroom lifestyle and is an expert in zero waste in the bathroom. Together with her, Ariane clears out her bathroom, tests sustainable alternatives and takes the first step towards a zero waste bathroom! Zero waste in the bathroom: Zero waste is about not producing any waste and not wasting any raw materials. That means no more plastic bottles, no more cotton pads, no more cotton buds and, ideally, no more toilet paper. What alternatives are there and is zero waste in the bathroom even possible? Ariane Alter is trying it out for herself. Why zero waste in the bathroom? Every German produces an average of 37 kilos of plastic packaging waste per year. That is - per capita - six kilos more than the EU average. And unfortunately this waste does not disappear into thin air when it ends up in the garbage can, but piles up in huge garbage dumps abroad, is burned or pollutes the oceans. So put an end to it. As an alternative to plastic, zero wasters use unpackaged products or use reusable containers made of glass and metal. Paper is also OK - it is easier to recycle and rots more easily.
