In 2012, a man who was passing by jumped into the river to save a group of elementary and junior high school students who were drowning in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. The elementary school students were safely rescued, but the junior high school students and the man died. After the accident, the deceased man's wife, Mayumi Oka, became a researcher and is researching the dangers of rivers, accident prevention, and children's behavior. She is engaged in awareness-raising activities such as giving lectures and publishing books. Why did the accident happen, and how can it be prevented?
