"For the first time, a new word in art has arrived not from France, but from Russia – constructivism." V.V. Constructivist architects, whose main goal was to increase the role of architecture in life. Down with historical continuity and useless decorative elements – constructivism uses a functional scheme as the basis of spatial composition. Constructivists sought expressiveness not in decor, but in the dynamics of simple structures, verticals and horizontals of the building, and a free plan. Nikolai Vasiliev, an architectural historian and associate professor at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, will tell you how constructivism was born, which buildings most vividly reflect the ideas of Soviet constructivism, which social ideas the constructivists promoted, and what principles modern architecture adheres to.
