The Toledo College of Physicians, through its Toledo College of Physicians Foundation “Dr Atanasio Ballestero”, is organizing this conference on Precision Oncology, which can be defined as the molecular profile of tumors to identify alterations that can be treated. During the conference we will address what precision oncology is, the possibilities it offers, what it consists of, what are the challenges to be addressed as health professionals and its growth and potential. Dr. Javier Medina Martínez, Head of the Oncology Service at the Toledo Hospital Complex, will participate as a speaker in the training session. After the presentation, there will be a question and answer session for attendees, both those who wish to attend in person and online. Moderation will be carried out by Dr. Olga Serrano Marcos, Member of the COMT Public Administration Physicians. The field of precision oncology The importance of the molecular profile of the tumor allows to stratify patients with oncological pathologies, from screening to the choice of treatment, and the basis of this process must be achieved through molecular testing. Thus, the implementation of biomarker tests in routine clinical practice is one of our great challenges, which is why it is necessary to form multidisciplinary teams, promote collaboration between specialists and provide education to both doctors and patients. As we will see in this session, the development of precision oncology has accelerated in recent years thanks to the integration of new technologies such as massive gene sequencing or artificial intelligence.
