Last June, we received a message regarding the Ezgi Apartment, which collapsed in the February 6 earthquake in Kahramanmaraş. Nurgül Göksu, who watched our video titled “Anatomy of a Building Collapsed in an Earthquake,” was asking if we could do a similar study for the Ezgi Apartment. 35 people, including Nurgül Göksu’s son Ahmet Can Zabun, daughter-in-law Nesibe Zabun, and 6-month-old granddaughter Asude, lost their lives in the Ezgi Apartment. Only two people survived from the apartment. We also examined the expert report and indictment prepared by the prosecutor’s office. We spoke to witnesses and experts to understand the changes the building went through. We remodeled the building based on the original projects of the Ezgi Apartment. With all these documents, videos, and photographs, we will seek answers to the question of why the Ezgi Apartment may have collapsed.
