In today's video, I'm going to explain to you the difference between Conservation Units (UC) and Permanent Preservation Areas (APP). Both are specially protected territorial spaces, which are areas intended for environmental preservation, but are established by different laws. Conservation units were established by Law 9985 of 2000, which created the National System of Nature Conservation Units known as (SNUC). Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) were established by the Forest Code, which is Law 12651 of 2012. The APP has the environmental function of protecting soils and, mainly, riparian forests, preventing silting and ensuring the supply of groundwater and the preservation of aquatic life.
