Opel has presented the new generation of the Astra, its most popular compact model. The sixth edition of this vehicle replaces the one that has been sold since 2015, the Astra K, which was still based on a platform developed by General Motors. Aesthetically, Opel has not been very consistent in the design of the new Astra and has opted for a cohesive style with the latest cars it has incorporated into its range: modern, functional and characterised by the Opel Vizor, a piece that integrates the front grille with the headlights and the brand logo. The interior of the Astra is simple. It stands out for its clear surfaces, a completely redesigned steering wheel and two 10-inch screens, one for the digital instrumentation and another touch screen for the multimedia system, integrated into the same piece and oriented towards the driver. The central console is wide, does without the gear lever in versions with automatic transmission (it is replaced by buttons) and includes an electric handbrake and physical controls for some functions, such as climate control. The seats can be upholstered in fabric, leather or Alcantara and have electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and even massage.
