We took a Nissan Patrol with a ZD30 engine and automatic transmission, and replaced them with a reliable gasoline V8 - 3UZ-FE Toyota with a five-speed automatic transmission. The transfer case was left Nissan, so it was possible to do without reworking the cardans.
