In the 3rd lesson of the Tafsir of Surah Luqman, Halis Hodja (Abu Hanzala) explains the wisdom behind why Luqman's (as) advice to his son is shown as an example in the Quran, and answers the question of how children's education should be. Tafsir of Surah Luqman, verses 16-22 You can subscribe to our WhatsApp line by clicking the link to be informed about our special posts that we do not publish on our other social media accounts; https://bit.ly/2xHiHzN The subject of how children's education should be is explained through the advice of Luqman (as), a prophet whose name is given to a surah in the Quran, to his child. It is explained that raising a child is not only about providing nutrition, clothing, and shelter, but that it should be done in a way that will benefit children's worldly life as well as their hereafter, just as Luqman (as) advised his son to, "Perform prayer, pay alms, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you." It is explained that a believer should speak nice words to his child while raising him and also give him advice that will keep him away from arrogance and keep him modest. Verses read in the 3rd lesson of the Tafseer of Surah Luqman: “O my dear son! Even if it is the weight of a mustard seed, or in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it (on the Day of Resurrection). Indeed, Allah is the Sublime, the Aware.” (31/Luqman, 16) “O my son! Establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, these are among the matters to be resolved upon.” (31/Luqman, 17) “Do not turn your face away from people, and do not walk arrogantly on the earth. Allah does not love the arrogant and the boastful.” (31/Luqman, 18) “Be balanced in your walk and lower your voice. The ugliest voice is that of a donkey.” (31/Luqman, 19) Do you not see that Allah has made everything in the heavens and the earth subject to you and has given you His blessings, both obvious and hidden? Yet there are people who argue about Allah without knowledge, without guidance and without any enlightening book. (31/Luqman, 20) When it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has revealed,” they say, “On the contrary, we will follow what we found our fathers following.” Even if Satan calls them to a blazing Fire? (31/Luqman, 21) Whoever submits himself to Allah, while being a doer of good, has surely held fast to the firm handle (of Tawhid). And with Allah is the outcome of all matters.
