The désarpa in Italian the transhumance of cows by Fabio Dalbard - October 2023 - Valle d'Aosta. The end of the summer season is marked in Valle d'Aosta by a traditional event that is deeply felt by the local population: the désarpa. After a long summer spent in the high mountain pastures, at the foot of the highest peaks in Europe, the cows return to their stables in the valley. The day of the désarpa coincides, by tradition, with the feast of San Michele, so every year, on September 29, the transhumance of cattle represents an important moment in the life of the breeder, as well as a day of celebration to be shared with the entire population.
