The old 19th century narrative style was unable to cope with the urban, technological and psychological transformations that were taking place at the beginning of the 20th century. The English writer Virginia Woolf, aware of this, sought to use new ways of narrating what she herself felt and observed around her. The stream of consciousness, therefore, presents itself as the ideal narrative technique, since it consists of a deep dive into the most diverse layers of the human mind. Mrs. Dalloway, one of the greatest novels of modernism, is an excellent example of the technique in practice: in it, the narrator takes a free journey through the thoughts and memories of the characters that is triggered when Clarissa Dalloway, an English socialite, decides to buy the flowers herself to decorate her big party. To find out more about this extraordinary work, we had a chat with Mell Ferraz: creator of @MellFerraz and a die-hard Virginia fan. Mell has a deep connection with books and presented our edition of Mrs. Dalloway – which also features new illustrations by Sabrina Gevaerd, a direct translation from English by Stephanie Fernandes and Thaís Paiva, and additional texts by Ana Carolina Mesquita, Carola Saavedra, and Sabrina Gevaerd. The book by a revolutionary writer in an edition made entirely by women. ► Link to Mell Ferraz's channel, Literature-se: https://bit.ly/308PzAM ► Get your copy of Mrs. Dalloway: https://amzn.to/2z2Kv5Y ► Build your Antofágica Library: https://amzn.to/2LqKxbn ► We look forward to your visit to our city: / antofagica / antofagica / antofagica
