Members of the RIIR had a memorable academic meeting within the framework of the XXXIV International Congress of the Latin American Sociology Association (ALAS), held at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, where on November 6th the panel entitled “Theoretical and methodological reflections on imaginaries and representations: ten years of experience” was held, with the participation of Francisco Mendoza (Ecuador), Lidia Girola (Mexico), Carlos Terzano (Argentina), Yutzil Cadena (Mexico), Ignacio Riffo (Chile) and Felipe Aliaga (Colombia). In this space, the participants raised reflections on some of the main existing theories on the subject from the French and Ibero-American currents, illustrating them with studies and methodological applications in the fields of education, work, gender and migration. In this way, the approach to imaginaries and representations was presented as a powerful, dynamic and versatile transdisciplinary theoretical and methodological architecture for understanding contemporary societies. This panel was held as a prelude and invitation to participate in the V International Workshop: Research on Imaginaries and Representations, which will be held in Ecuador at the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro, from April 22 to 25, 2025 in the city of Manta. https://imaginariosyrepresentaciones....
