Apple trees grown from a stone, statistically very rarely repeat the features of the mother plant, because such a seedling from a stone will be a mix of the mother plant and the pollinator. We never have a guarantee what variety / hybrid we will receive from free pollination using this method. In other words: the trees will bear fruit, but you don't know what the fruit will be, how long it will take until the first fruiting, how abundant it will be and how frequent. Without grafting the tree with another, selected apple variety, we most likely will not get an apple tree that produces fruit identical to the one from which we took the seeds for planting. That is, there is a small chance that they will repeat the features, but this is a genetic lottery, and we have no certainty about how genetically strong a seed we got and what apple variety was the pollinator (hopefully not an ornamental apple tree, because apple trees pollinated by it have a hard time fruiting later, the fruit is usually small, etc.). However, dramatization is also exaggerated, because it is not 100% certain that we will get a non-fruiting dwarf plant, which even if it does fruit, the fruit will be small, unpalatable and there will be few of them, etc. I myself have seen many wild plants with beautiful fruit and abundant crops. Most often by dirt roads etc., but even assuming that there will be few apples and that they themselves will be small - firstly, apples from wild and semi-wild apple trees taste amazing (that's my opinion) when biting into such an apple you can simply feel life, the natural full of life real taste of the apple, although often considered imperfect according to taste canons, for me it is amazing. Secondly, such fruit (from so-called wild ones) are an absolute bomb for making apple vinegars. I will definitely leave most of them as they are, without grafting them, but I will probably use a few of them as rootstocks for grafting with other apple varieties. To sum up: theoretically potentially late in fruiting and average in yield, but it is possible that they taste brilliant (depending on what someone likes, I love wild apples).
