In 2010, at the age of 40, Igor Bokun underwent successful surgery to remove an extremely rare brain tumor. Shortly afterward, he gave up his successful career in the technology industry and moved with his wife Marzena and three children from a comfortable apartment in Bielsko-Biała to a small, isolated mountain house that they had built themselves in Wilkowice, at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. Tired of his life as a businessman focused on consumption, Igor decided to make profound changes. He was fascinated by the idea of self-sufficiency and developing a deep, close relationship with nature. At the same time, he felt that institutions intended to protect the environment and human health often worsen the situation - by dividing people from each other and separating us from nature. So Igor decided to take matters into his own hands. His goal was to independently produce or locally source food, medicine, energy or water. He wanted to actively participate in building his own little world. Instead of thoughtlessly consuming what the "system" offers - to create. At one point, he even took on the challenge of not buying food for a year. Although he was unable to meet the strict criteria of the experiment, thanks to it he gained a great deal of knowledge and established valuable contacts. Igor's change of mentality began around the breakthrough year 2000. He transformed the original goal of striving for self-sufficiency into a pursuit of harmony and balance. Igor inspires others to think outside the box and use their full potential. In addition to the Academy of Down-to-earth Skills, Igor teaches meditation and mental strength as part of the Light Head Academy, and from 2022, as part of FruitPrint.pl, he creates a nationwide food forest in schools, kindergartens, parks and housing estates. He also cooperates in the development of the technological start-up Najszybsza.pl. Igor and Marzena's farm is located on a beautiful meadow at the top of Magurka Wilkowicka in the Beskid Mały Mountains. Using the idea of permaculture, Igor's work is supported by chickens, geese and sheep. Thanks to the animals, life in the yard is vibrant, and Igor gains valuable helpers in the work and valuable products: eggs, meat, manure. The farm, surrounded by picturesque mountains, offers not only the charm of rural life, but also a place for grateful reflection on nature and its closeness. Wandering around these lands, you can discover the beauty of harmony between man and the surrounding environment, which Igor constantly nurtures and shares his wisdom with all who are ready to follow in his footsteps. This is a place where nature and man combine their forces, creating beautiful stories of self-sufficiency and respect for the land, which resound like the melody of true happiness. Nature in the mountains also shows its harsh face. Difficult and dangerous access in winter, greater challenges related to transporting children to school and classes, the need to take care of most media on your own, these are just a few of the challenges faced by the residents of the mountain farm. However, such conditions harden a person, teach humility and promote cooperation between neighbors and the creation of a local, independent community.
