Summer, sun, beach: the three holiday wishes of Germans can be fulfilled not only far from home! Classic camping in your own country is increasingly becoming the travel trend in 2020. City dwellers in particular are now drawn to tent and campsite sites, many of which are fully booked. But how does camping work in times of Corona, with distance rules and hygiene regulations? Focus TV has taken a look at two large campsites in the east and west: the so-called "royal" Sanssouci campsite near Potsdam and what is probably Germany's oldest campsite on the Rhine, near Cologne. There, friends Anna and Luisa want to get a taste of great freedom for the first time in a tent. - Quite the opposite of Carmen and Harry, who have been regular guests with their luxury caravan for twelve years. In Potsdam, where site operator Dieter Lübberding greets his customers in style with a tricorn hat, the Bauer family from Berlin are guests. For their three children, life in a tent means pure adventure. Simone Pokrandt sometimes feels this too, but in a different way: The inspector checks the safety of the sites on behalf of the ADAC.
