Four-masted barque PEKING - Insights into the restoration work

There is great public interest in the PEKING. Many people in Hamburg are awaiting the return of the four-masted barque to its home port. Only a few people have so far been able to look around on board the PEKING and marvel at the breathtaking results of the restoration work. The Hamburg Maritim Foundation, in collaboration with the team from Peters Werft, ARGE Ingenieurbüro Löll and TECHNOLOG Services GmbH and the rigging team from Oevelgönner Tauwerkstatt and GEORG ALBINUS Boatbuilding & Rigging, has made a second film about the restoration work. The result is an impressive film about the 109-year-old cargo sailing ship, built by Blohm + Voss for the F. Laeisz shipping company, which offers the viewer an insight into the restoration work. This film also captures a unique moment in which the function of the faithfully reproduced brass winches was tested. A team consisting of riggers, shipyard employees and the foundation had positioned themselves at the brass winches to brass the three masts simultaneously.
