Original title: Rough Air - Danger on Flight 534 The suspended pilot Mike Hogan is stuck as a passenger in London. There he is recognized by his former employer and asked to fly a passenger plane as a pilot. Captain Jack Brooks is, however, unhappy with the assignment of his new co-pilot. He does not think much of Hogan and tells him that the seat next to him was only occupied by Hogan because no other first officer was available. The transatlantic flight 534 takes off late. Captain Brooks is determined to make up for the delay and therefore flies through a bad weather front against Hogan's wishes. As was inevitable, one of the cargo hold doors breaks off in the storm. The resulting decompression seriously damages the plane. A short time later, Brooks loses consciousness, so Hogan must now take command. He sees the only option is to make an emergency landing of the plane. He locates Iceland and decides to make an emergency landing there. The ghosts of the past catch up with him, as a risky emergency landing that resulted in his plane being destroyed was the reason he was put on leave. He finds support in flight attendant Katy Phillips. The two share a common past. Another supporter is the criminal Ty Conner, who proves to be a help after some initial difficulties.
