As part of the series "Saints of the Slavic Countries: Between East and West", we will talk with Hanna Kowalska-Stus, a cultural scientist from the Jagiellonian University, about the life and Christian feat of the Polish Queen Kinga. Saint Kinga (Kunigunda) lived in the 13th century, she was the daughter of the Hungarian King Bela IV and the Greek princess Maria Laskarina, which is why she is often called "Kunigunda of Hungary". Having married the Polish King Boleslaw V, she became the Polish queen and forever entered both the history of Poland and the history of Catholic holiness. The queen was far from politics and devoted herself entirely to caring for the poor and the sick, after the death of her husband, she founded a monastery in Stary Sącz, where she labored until the end of her days.
