On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, the Center of Slavic Cultures will host a meeting with the participation of philologists, historians and cultural figures. Natalia Mikhailovna Kurennaya, Doctor of Philosophy, Leading Researcher of the Department of the History of Culture of Slavic Peoples of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences will give a brief excursion into the history of the Belarusian language, introduce the most significant stages of its development in the 20th-21st centuries, as well as outstanding Belarusian writers who reflected the national picture of the world in their works, developed and enriched the native language. Darya Aleksandrovna Korotkova, PhD in History, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher of the Department of Eastern Slavism of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences will talk about the book "Native Word" that is being prepared for publication. (Belarusian and Ukrainian languages at school (essays on the history of mass education, mid-19th - mid-20th centuries). Partners from the Republic of Belarus, the State Cultural Institution "Borisov Central District Library named after I.Kh. Kolodeev", will present a regional educational project "Daluchyts da rodnaha slova" ("Attract to the native word"): new formats for popularizing Belarusian literature for children, within the framework of which listeners will get acquainted with the projects implemented by the library in 2021-2022. At the end of the evening, we will listen to poems by Belarusian poets about their native language. The event is organized by the Public Organization "National and Cultural Autonomy "Belarusians of Moscow".
