Petar Petrović Njegoš was born in the village of Njeguši, Montenegro — ruler of Montenegro (lord) in 1830-1851 and Metropolitan of Montenegro and Berdsk. Statesman, reformer, contributed to the transformation of Montenegro into an independent modern state. Author of many poems and verses. Considered by many to be the most outstanding poet of Serbian literature. At the meeting with poets and literary scholars, we will talk about the significance for modern times, translations of poetic texts into Russian, and also try to analyze the messages of his two poems "Mountain Wreath" and "Ray of the Microcosm". Special guest of the program is Montenegrin poet, prose writer, essayist, Njegoš scholar Milutin Mičović. He is the author of many books: poetry collections "Living Water" (1987), "Gates" (1994), "Traces of the Future" (2010); the novel "The Ruined City" (1991); books of poetic and philosophical essays "Thus Spoke the Montenegrins" (1996), "Letters from Ouranoupolis" (2000), "The Serbian Labyrinth and the Montenegrin Minotaur" (2003), "Njegos and Modern Montenegro" (2007). His poems are included in Russian and foreign anthologies of modern Serbian poetry; they have been translated into many languages.
