Comparative Analysis of the Building of the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate Palace with the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace The establishment of the Surakarta Kasunanan Palace and the Yogyakarta Sultanate Palace. It began with the Islamic Mataram Sultanate which had its center of government in Kotagedhe Yogyakarta, with a territory of almost the entire island of Java. Then there were various conflicts that caused the Islamic Mataram to move to Kartasura. Then the Surakarta Palace was built which was a transfer from the Kartasura Kingdom. The choices of locations for the establishment of the Surakarta Palace were Kadipolo Village (Taman Sriwedhari), Sala Village and Sewu Village. Sala Village was chosen for good spiritual reasons and was close to the Bengawan Solo River as a transportation center.
