The case of Carla, a 21-year-old girl, is presented. Carla reports feeling out of control and empty, with feelings of loneliness rooted since her childhood, especially in relation to her parents and the perception of lack of attention compared to her siblings. In addition, there are episodes of conflict with friends and impulsive acts, such as, for example, hitting a classmate during high school. This case consists of three clinical sessions. In the first session, an evaluation of Carla's borderline personality disorder is carried out. Her personal history, medical history and all aspects of her life are explored in depth. The importance of creating a safe and trusting environment so that Carla feels comfortable during the examination is emphasized. In the second and third sessions, the psychotherapist evaluates and intervenes from a mentalization-based therapy approach. On this occasion, the testimonies after the sessions are included. First, the psychotherapist provides detailed explanations about the therapeutic objectives and the work strategy, as well as the adaptation to the specific difficulties of this population to encourage adherence to the treatment. Secondly, Carla's testimony about her experience with each session is presented. These videos have been created by the PSYCAST association (Bringing you closer to psychology through audiovisual media), and by teachers and students participating in the Educational Innovation Project 2023/24 entitled: "Development of audiovisual resources and application in the classroom based on Assessment While Learning (AWL)" funded by the Complutense University of Madrid. The videos have been recorded and edited by the CAI Behavior Analysis Techniques of the UCM and directed by Carolina Marín, professor at the UCM and coordinator of PSYCAST. These videos are intended to bring you closer to psychology in clinical contexts to delve into the different phases and tools used in the Psychological Assessment process. The cases shown below are represented by accredited General Health Psychologists with real experience in clinical practice and although the data is fictitious, there is no established script, so the interactions between therapist and patient (dialogues, comments, non-verbal language...) are absolutely real and spontaneous. From these videos you will be able to work in detail on the different stages of the Clinical Psychological Assessment process, delving into the tasks, tools, attitudes and skills of the therapist that emerge at each stage of the process. In addition, as the case progresses, we will offer you different activities that you can do at the pace set by the assessment itself and in this way, consolidate the knowledge acquired. Psycast.es is an educational psychology website that offers information on different psychological topics through audiovisual material, scientific articles and previously selected popular articles.
