<Mōri Series, Episode 17> The time is the late Sengoku period, in the 12th year of Tenbun (1543). The head of the Bingo Yamana clan, Yamana Michioki, who had given up on Ouchi Yoshitaka after his failed attack on Gassan-Toda Castle and switched sides to the Amago faction, moved to seize the Numata Kobayakawa territory, which had lost its lord in the Izumo collapse, but due to a scheme by Mori Motonari, the Yamana army was completely defeated and the Ouchi army, including the army of Aki Shugodai Hironaka Takakane, pushed them all the way to his castle, Kannabe Castle. The Aki clan wanted to destroy the Yamana clan with this momentum, but Ouchi Yoshitaka, who was reluctant to expand his territory through war, disbanded the Bingo invasion army, and Yamana Michioki was saved. Meanwhile, Amago Haruhisa, who had defended his castle, faced fierce resistance from the Ouchi faction of the northern Bingo clan, so he changed his target to Hoki and sent the Shingu Party there. With this, the seeds of war were extinguished from Aki Province, but in November 1545, an event occurred that brought Motonari to his lowest point. His wife Oku (Myoku), who had supported him for about 30 years, passed away due to illness. Motonari, who had not had a concubine and had only loved Myoku, was deeply dejected, but at the same time, he realized that his own death was approaching and took the bold step of handing over the family headship to his eldest son, Takamoto, with an eye on the next Mori clan. He also realized, at the will of Ouchi Yoshitaka, that his third son, Takakage, who had been adopted into the Takehara Kobayakawa clan, would become the head of the Kobayakawa clan, and his second son, Motoharu, would be adopted by Kikkawa Okitsune and become the head of the Kikkawa clan. He also accomplished the incredible feat of marrying Ouchi Yoshitaka's adopted daughter to the head of the clan, Mori Takamoto, and grew the clan into the largest local clan in Aki in both name and reality. In September 1549, Motonari left the government to Takamoto, and with his life on his hands, he mobilized local lords such as Kobayakawa, Amano, and Hiraga, and used a strategy to capture the Bingo Yamana territory, expelling Yamana Yoshioki and bringing an end to the six-year long "Kannabe Battle." Driven out of Bingo, Yamana Yoshioki was on his way to Izumo Gassan Toda Castle with heavy feet... ▼Official Merchandise Sales Site▼ https://yukimura.theshop.jp/ [For viewers] *Please note that this is a personal production and may contain typos and other errors. *This is a battle commentary based on the common theory, but with some Yukimura-style embellishment. *There are various theories about the events of the battles and stories. *Due to production reasons, it does not cover all information or warlords that appear. *The names of characters are written in easy-to-understand notation regardless of the time of their name change. *There may be loud noises during the performance. *This is based on historical materials as of 2024. *Illustration provided by Shikan-dono #Warring States period #Battle #History
