Over 70 three-thousand-meter peaks, glaciers with few crevasses, and many huts: the Silvretta is popular with ski tourers. Uphill-Downhill accompanies mountain guide Viola Goldhofer and two friends on a traverse. The highlight: the Piz Buin. Author: Kilian Neuwert Over 70 three-thousand-meter peaks, many of which are easy to climb – sometimes early in the year. In addition, glaciers with mostly few crevasses and a dense network of high mountain huts. These are certainly some of the reasons why the Silvretta is so popular with ski tourers. The Uphill-Downhill team was also lured to the mountain range between Austria and Switzerland. There they accompanied Viola Goldhofer from Upper Bavaria. She had planned a traverse of the Silvretta for two friends. In parts the route follows the frequently used traverse – in parts it deviates to less frequently visited parts of the Silvretta. The highlight: the ascent of the Piz Buin, probably the most famous peak in the Silvretta. TV broadcast from January 8th, 2023 NOTE: Due to the risk of rock falls and for safety reasons, the responsible municipality decreed on December 14th, 2022 that the Tuoi Hut, including the winter room, will remain closed for the entire 22/23 winter season. A decision on the 2023 summer season will be made in April 2022.
