After the challenging border crossing from Chile to Argentina, we now go one step further and tackle the very demanding Huemul circular hike. ➸ My Argentina travel guide: https://www.back-packer.org/de/argent... -- My equipment for producing this video -- ▸ Sony A7M2 http://amzn.to/2AM0FeL ▸ Drone http://amzn.to/2AMoOlo ▸ GoPro Camera http://amzn.to/1PBD57X ▸ Cullmann Tripod http://amzn.to/1FDp1rV ▸ Joby Gorillapod http://amzn.to/1FDp3Qy ▸ Zoom H2n Audio Recorder http://amzn.to/1PBDszo ▸ SDHC Memory Card http://amzn.to/1I5zSbi ▸ Waterproof Memory Card Case http://amzn.to/1aW4O3x ▸ Backpack Osprey Farpoint 40 http://www.back-packer.org/farpoint40_gt El Chaltén was founded in 1985 to consolidate Argentina's territorial claims to the region. Today it is the trekking capital of the country and one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Patagonia. In this episode we tackle what I think is the most beautiful multi-day hike in Patagonia, the Huemul circular hike. The Huemul tour first leads from El Chalten over the Laguna Toro up to the infamous Paso del Viento and then to the Huemul Pass. Before we reach this pass we hike most of the time along the Viedma Glacier, which can be imagined as a kind of finger that protrudes from the South Patagonian Ice Field and then calves into Lake Viedma. We set up our next camp on the shore of this lake. The Viedma Glacier is one of 48 large outlet glaciers of the South Patagonian Ice Field - each of these glaciers has more than 20 km2 of ice surface. For this part of the series we were on the road for 4 days and saw the following: Southern Patagonian Ice Field Cerro Torre Monte Fitz Roy Laguna Toro Glaciar Rio Tunel Inferior & Rio Tunel Paso del Viento (Pass) Viedma Glacier / Glaciar Viedma Cerro Huemul / Vuelta Huemul Paso Huemul (Pass) Lago Viedma Bahia Tempanos Bahia Rio Tunel Campo Hielo Sur El Chalten About the Patagonia Expedition: In this series, Kristin from Bemytravelmuse and I take you on a journey to the most impressive landscapes in and around the southernmost region of the Andes. We visit the lake region, the fjords of the Pacific Ocean, the most famous mountain formations and the Patagonian Ice Field with its glaciers. Hitchhike with us along the Carretera Austral to the most remote places in Patagonia, join us on our many hikes and… most importantly: enjoy the fantastic views of the Patagonian landscape. === My accommodation recommendations worldwide: https://www.back-packer.org/de/top-ho...
